Our Eternal King Psalm 9:7 (ESV)
7 But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice.
Do you ever wonder what in the world is going on? You turn on the television or browse the internet news sites and see nothing but violence and injustice. You start to wonder: Is God in control? Does he know what’s going on?
Habakkuk wondered the same thing. In Habakkuk chapter 1 the prophet cried out to God in desperation wondering God would allow violence, destruction, and injustice and not do anything about it. God answered Habakkuk by telling the prophet that he was about to do something that the prophet would not believe. God was about to punish Habakkuk’s people for their ungodliness.
King David often cried out to the Lord as well. However, King David was confident that the Lord was on his throne, and would be forever, and will bring about justice in His time. We should not be like Habakkuk and cry out to God in unbelief. Rather, we need to be like King David and rest in the knowledge that the Lord is indeed still on His throne. He will always be on His throne and will make things right in His time.
Jesus Christ is the King of kings. Today, He is reigning in heaven, but the day will come when He will return and rule on earth as king. In the meantime, we are to live by faith and not by sight. Know for sure that He is indeed in control and nothing happens without His knowledge. He is Lord. We can trust Him to do what brings Him glory, even when we don’t understand.
