Whole-hearted Thanks- Psalm 9:1 (ESV)

1 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.

In Matthew 22:36 Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, His response was, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” In Psalm 9, King David vowed to give thanks to the Lord with is whole heart and to recount of all his wonderful deeds.

It’s like the song that tells us to count our blessings. If we stop for a moment and consider the many blessings of our Lord, we too will say with King David, “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart.”

As the commandment says, Jesus wants all your heart, soul, and mind. How much do you give Jesus on a daily basis? Is He an after- thought, or the focus of your life? Psalm 1 tells us that the man who is blessed is the man who delights in the law of the Lord and meditates on it day and night. Joshua was also told to meditate on the book of the law day and night. God promised that if he did, his way would be prosperous.

Read through the gospels and meditate on all the wonderful works of the Lord contained in them. You will then have plenty of reason, Like king David, to give thanks to the Lord with your whole heart.

Perhaps the reason that you do not give thanks to the Lord with your whole heart is because you have never truster Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If that’s you, you need to trust Him today. Today is the day of salvation. Trust Christ today and you will soon discover that you have plenty to thank Him for.
