Your Love for Christ- 1 Peter 1:8 (ESV)
Though you have not seen him, you love him…
Do you love Jesus? If you are a Christian, your answer is most decisively yes. We love Him because He first loved us. We typically do not love someone we have not seen or cannot see. But with Jesus it’s different. Though you have not seen him, you love him.
Jesus told Thomas that because he saw he believed, but blessed would be those who have not seen yet have believed. We who have not seen Jesus yet love him, are also blessed. The people of the world have not seen Jesus either and they hate him. They fulfill the prophecy: “They hated him without cause.”
Keeping that in mind, our love for Christ should motivate us to want to serve him better. The people of the world that hate him (without cause), need to be told of his love for them and how they can find true love and peace in Christ.
Jesus is willing to transform his enemies into his brothers and sisters. He did it for us. After all, Paul reminds us in Ephesians Chapter 2-1And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world… 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ…
In a world filled with bad news, this is the greatest news you can be told. Jesus loves you, and because He does, you love Him in return. Have a blessed week.
