God’s Gracious Gift- Romans 5:8 (ESV)

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God’s love is immeasurable. It extends far beyond anything we can imagine. When Jesus spoke with Nicodemus, He uttered the most well known verse in all the Bible: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). In this verse from the book of Romans Paul tells us essentially the same thing, except Paul adds the fact that we were still sinners.

Jesus Christ came to save sinners. His salvation is the free gift of God. However, like any gift, you must receive (accept) it for you to benefit from it. God’s love for mankind prompted him to provide salvation for his rebellious, sinful humanity. This salvation is a gift of God’s grace. It cannot be earned by any works. It must be accepted. Have you accepted God’s free gift of salvation in Jesus Christ?

If you have, you have received the right to be called a child of God, and your eternal destiny is secure in Christ. If you have not, as the Bible says, today is the day of salvation. Don’t put off the most important decision of your life until tomorrow. Receive Him today.
