Precious Blood- 1 Peter 1:18-19 (ESV)

18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

Are you repulsed by talk of the blood of Christ? Or do you rejoice in the sacrifice made by Christ on your behalf through the shedding of His precious blood. Some churches refuse to talk about the blood of Christ because some are repulsed by the idea. The unredeemed find it repulsive, but the redeemed should rejoice in the blood of Christ.

The Bible tells us that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22). Christ shedding His blood on the cross is the reason God can forgive our sins and transgressions. Without the cross, there is no salvation. He was crucified and shed His blood for our forgiveness and was raised from the dead for our justification.

Peter tells us that we were not redeemed with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ. The entire Old Testament sacrificial system of sacrificing various animals such as lambs and bulls and turtle doves all pointed to the ultimate sacrifice that would be made by the Lamb of God Himself (Jesus Christ). The Bible tells us: For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. (Hebrews 10:4).The Bible also tells us: For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. (Hebrews 10:14).

The forgiveness of sins could only be accomplished by Christ Himself. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus, do it today. Today is the day of salvation, and Jesus is the only way of salvation (John 14:6).
