To Praise God- Psalm 105:1-ESV

1Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;

make known his deeds among the peoples!

In this one verse, the psalmist encourages us to do three things. The first thing we are to do is to give thanks to the Lord. Give thanks to God for who he is and for what he has done for you. If you are married, give thanks for your spouse. If you have children, thank him for them. If you have grandchildren, give God thanks. God has blessed you in many ways and deserves our greatest thanks. He has also blessed you in other ways as well. Thank God today.

The second is to call upon his name. We call upon his name in prayer. Prayer is a gift that God has given to us to enable to call upon him. He wants us to call upon him. He encourages us to pray. He delights in our prayers. Our heavenly Father wants us to pray to him regularly. Jesus encouraged us to pray and even taught us how to pray. The Holy Spirit also helps us in our prayers.

The third is to make his deeds known. Tell others about Jesus. Tell them what He has done for you. Tell them what he continues to do for you on a daily basis. Spread the gospel message. Paul wrote that he is not ashamed of the gospel message. We should not be ashamed of it either. We should be more than willing to share the good news of Christ with everyone. By doing so, we fulfill the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20.

Have you thanked the Lord today? Have you called upon him? Have you shared the gospel with someone today? Make this your goal for today.
