Willing to Be Healed- John 5:6- ESV

Do you want to be healed?

This is the question that Jesus asked the invalid at the pool of Bethesda. Jesus has the same question for us today. Jesus healed the man of his physical condition. Jesus is the great physician and can heal any physical malady.

However, he heals from our natural spiritual condition as well. In our natural state, or what Paul would refer to as the natural man, we are spiritually sick. We need to be healed. Jesus has the power to heal you from your spiritual sickness (sin).

Jesus has the power to heal us from our natural spiritual condition. However, before he can do so, he needs you to admit your need for healing. The first step to salvation is to admit that you are a sinner and need to be saved. Jesus will save all who come to him for salvation. He will not force himself on you.

God has given us the ability to think for ourselves and to make our own decisions. When presented with the gospel message, each one of us has the ability to choose how we will respond. If we respond to the call to salvation, we will be saved. If we reject the call, we will not be saved. This comes back to the question: Do you want to be healed?

If your desire is for Jesus to heal you, he is more than happy to heal you. The Bible says that it is not the will of God that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Jesus wants to save you. But you must want it as well.

If you have already responded to God’s call for salvation, rejoice in the fact that you have been healed. If you have not done so, you need to respond to the gospel message. Jesus is willing, are you?
