The Faithfulness of God- 1 Corinthians 1:9- ESV
9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
There isn’t much that we can count on in this world. But one thing that we can definitely count on is the faithfulness of God. He is faithful to us even when we are not faithful to him. This is seen most clearly in God’s faithfulness to Israel. We read in the Old Testament many occasions where Israel was unfaithful to God, yet he remains faithful to them.
The prophet Jeremiah stated in chapter 31 verses 35-36 of his book: “Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar; The LORD of hosts is his name. If this fixed order departs from before Me, declares the LORD, then the offspring of Israel also will cease from being a nation before Me forever.”
This promise from god was that the nation of Israel would always exist. Only God could change the fixed order he speaks of and he will not. He said that if this fixed order departs from before him, the offspring of Israel will cease from being a nation. Since he is the only one who could change this fixed order, it will not depart from before him.
God’s faithfulness extends to the Gentiles as well. Jesus established his church consisting of Jews and gentiles and told the church that he would never leave them or forsake them. John tells us that God’s faithfulness extends to the forgiveness of our sins as well.
Our God is a faithful God. He will never leave you or forsake you. He will abundantly pardon and forgive every sin: past, present and future, and will bless those who trust in Christ. Have you placed your faith in Christ? He will be ever faithful and true. You have his word on that.
