Saved by Grace- Ephesians 2:8 (ESV)
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
The two key words in this verse are “Grace” and “Faith.” Salvation comes by God’s grace. Grace is God giving what we don’t deserve. As Paul wrote in quoting Isaiah: “There is none righteous, no not one.” We can be saved only because God is a gracious God. He saves us by His grace.
However, the second key is that His grace is given to us through faith, and this is not just any faith, it must be faith in Christ. We exhibit many forms of faith daily. We place our faith in the post office when mailing a bill payment. We place our faith in the chef when we go to a restaurant. We place our faith in the pilot when flying on an aircraft.
Yet some refuse to place their faith in Christ alone for salvation. They have faith in themselves and their natural goodness. It’s not faith in Christ and me. It’s faith in Christ alone that saves.. God says that’s not good enough. Salvation comes by God’s grace to all who place their faith in Christ. That is God’s salvation. Any other attempt at salvation form mankind is unacceptable to God.
Have you placed your faith in Christ, and Christ alone, for your salvation? If not, today is the day of salvation. Place your faith in Christ alone by God’s grace, and you will be saved.
