King of the Jews- Matthew 27:37 (ESV)

And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

Jesus was crucified as the King of the Jews. The religious leaders protested that inscription but Pilate was adamant and replied, “What I have written I have written.” (John 19:22). Pilate had that written to mock Jesus. However, the truth is that Jesus is not only the King of the Jews, He is the King of kings. Jesus is King of all. Not only is He King, He is the Son of God.

As King, He is to be Sovereign over our lives. Is Jesus Sovereign of your life? Have you submitted to the sovereignty of Christ? As He was hanging on the cross between 2 criminals, one of them mocked Him, but the other pleaded to Jesus, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” (Luke 23:42). The second criminal believed in Jesus and was rewarded as Jesus promised that he would be with Jesus in paradise that very day.

Even today, some mock Jesus and some believe in and trust Jesus for their salvation. If you are a Christian, since Jesus is already your Savior, as we come to this Easter season, resolve to make Him your Sovereign as well. Submit to the Holy Spirit and strive to live by the Spirit. If you are not a Christian, let this Easter season be the time that you place your faith in Christ for your salvation. He wants to save you and He will if you come to Him and humbly ask Him to save you.

Yes, Jesus is the King of the Jews as Pilate had written. But He is also King of all creation. Trust in Him today.
