The Love of Christ- Romans 8:35 ESV

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

The answer to this question is obviously no one. No one or nothing can separate us from the love of Christ as the apostle Paul elaborates on in Romans Chapter 8.

The love of Christ has its origins from eternity past. We love Him because He first loved us. It was the love of Christ that compelled Him to leave His place in glory and come to earth to live as one of us, to fulfill the Law of Moses, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

Jesus told His disciples that greater love has no man than that he would lay down his life for his brother. That is precisely what the love of Christ compelled Him to do. He took our sins to the cross and imputed His righteousness to us so that we may have peace with God, be made righteous, and be able to enjoy fellowship with Him in God’s kingdom for all eternity.

The love of Christ is powerful. It is eternal, and it is personal. Because of His love for us, He cares for us. He sent to Holy Spirit to indwell us and to empower us to live our lives for Him. Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. We are in Him and He is in us. This union is made possible because of His love for us, and as the apostle Paul reminds us, no one or nothing can ever separate us from the love of Christ.

As you meditate on this truth this week, may you come to a better appreciation of Christ’s love, and come to love Him even more.
