He is Risen- Matthew 28:6

6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.

In the early morning hours after the Sabbath, two women went to the tomb of Jesus to anoint his body. As they walked along, they discussed with each other as to how they were going to be able to roll away the stone. But when they arrived, they noticed that the stone had been rolled away, and the tomb was empty. Although Jesus had stated several times that he would be put to death but on the third day he would rise, they were still confused as to why the body was not there. An angel conveyed the message to them that Jesus was not there. He had risen just as he said he would.

They would not find the living among the dead. Jesus was crucified and buried in a tomb. However, on the third day he rose. Jesus conquered death. In Revelation 2:8 Jesus said to John:

8 “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: ‘The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life.

Easter is the day on which we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. Jesus is alive. He is at the right hand of the Father in heaven interceding for the saints. Because Jesus overcame the world and conquered death, we can do likewise in Him. Our overcoming of the world comes from our faith in Christ. John tells us that our faith is the faith that overcomes the world. And Paul tells us that because of the atoning death of Christ on the cross, death has been swallowed up in victory.

Jesus overcame the world and conquered death, and because He did, we can as well, if we receive Him as our Lord and Savior. This Easter, remember our Lord. Celebrate His victory. He has risen. If you have not yet received Christ as your Lord and Savior, today is the day of salvation. Receive Him today.
